MASHAV and YABT renew their commitment to entrepreneurship in the Americas
Washington DC, November 11, 2014 —In light of the successful impact of the Business Labs program in training more than 30,000 young entrepreneurs and practitioners in the Americas over the past 14 years, the Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) renewed their cooperation agreement for an additional period of three years, beginning in 2015 and concluding in 2017.
This partnership includes two international courses in Israel on topics, such as: Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Microenterprise Support Systems and others to provide participants with learning and sharing platforms and exchange of good practices / policies for promoting innovative entrepreneurship. Each course will host up to twenty-five participants at the Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center in Haifa, Israel. More information here
Under this partnership scheme, YABT, MASHAV and MCTC will carry out twelve Business Labs workshops per year in Latin America and the Caribbean focused on topics such as, Cultural Enterprise Development, Sustainable Tourism, Social Entrepreneurship, Microenterprise Support Systems or Nex Links, InnovAction, among others.
The Business Labs Program consists of one-week trainings that provide tools and skills aimed to professionals that after completing a series of Business Labs can get certified as Business Labs Trainers of Trainees (TOTs) and reproduce this methodology to support young entrepreneurs.
Inspired by Nobel Peace Prize winner Mohammad Yunus’s definition of Social Business and in line with the Social Innovation Category within the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas, MASHAV and YABT will be able to offer a new methodology - the Social Business Labs: “Initiating and Managing Social Businesses” aimed at young people who desire to answer local needs by formulating and developing social ideas; the Social Business Labs will start running from January 2015 on.
YABT will shortly release a draft calendar for the Business Labs Program in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) is a nonprofit organization that works in cooperation with the Organization of American States (OAS) in promoting and implementing programs that encourage entrepreneurship among young people in the Americas to combat poverty and seek better opportunities for youth.
MASHAV – Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation - at Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs was founded in late 1957, and is responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of the State of Israel’s development cooperation programs. MASHAV concentrates on human and institutional capacity building by sharing Israel’s own development experience and expertise, imparting know-how and transferring innovative technologies and tested methodologies adaptable to a developing country’s needs.
The Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center (MCTC) was established by MASHAV in 1961 to assist in the training of women engaged in community work in the newly emerging states in Africa and Asia. MCTC enjoys the active cooperation of a number of international organizations, governmental and non-governmental organizations and development authorities.
