YABT seals Alliance with the Bogota Chamber of Commerce to Bolster Entrepreneurship Efforts

Washington, D.C., April 9 2014 – On April 8, the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (BCC) signed a cooperation agreement to bolster entrepreneurship efforts and strengthen joint initiatives, facilitating greater opportunities for young entrepreneurs in Colombia.

The signing ceremony of this cooperation agreement took place in the Chapinero headquarters of the BCC. Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their partnership, based on the shared vision and results achieved to date. The agreement was signed by YABT Founder, Roy L. Thomasson, and BCC President, Mónica de Greiff.

Also present at the signing ceremony were the BCC Vice President of the Enterprise Strengthening Section, Mrs. María Isabel Agudelo; the Director of Bogotá Emprende, Mr. Juan Carlos Rodríguez; and YABT Program Officer, Edgar Maestre.

This agreement includes the development and implementation of programs and activities focused on international and strategic alliances between enterprises, and other partners, to allow best practices exchanges among local entrepreneurs, and raise Bogotá Emprende's international visibility.

The BCC is among the most important of YABT partners, having developed stronger ties over the last few years. During the signing ceremony, both institutions highlighted the achievements that have resulted since the beginning of their partnership in 2012, when the Summit of the Americas took place in Cartagena, Colombia.

By enforcing this agreement, YABT and the BCC look forward to the exchange of best practices that will foster entrepreneurial initiatives with higher impact in Colombia. In doing so, we hope to share our results and resulting prototypes with other countries and partners in the region. Finally, YABT will serve as a link for cooperation efforts between the Organization of American States and the BCC, providing a more international platform for dialogue and exchange of best practices with the other OAS Member States.
