Signing of Agreement with the Technology Institute of the Americas

Santo Domingo, April 20, 2016 - The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) signed a cooperation agreement today with the Technology Institute of the Americas (ITLA, by its Spanish acronym) at the Permanent Mission of the Organization of the American States (OAS) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The agreement aims to develop and implement programs and activities of mutual interest in Dominican Republic for the development of young entrepreneurs and poverty alleviation among young people through entrepreneurial and self-development programs.

“Given that the purpose of YABT is to promote the social and economic development of countries in the Western Hemisphere through projects and activities focused on helping to create and encourage efforts to improve the quality of life of youth and young adults, especially those living in poverty, this partnership has great potential to support young Dominicans,” expressed Luis Viguria, Chief Executive Officer of YABT.

YABT seeks to create opportunities for the employment of youth and young adults through entrepreneurship, business creation, formal and informal training, technology application, and the expansion of businesses led by youth. It makes strategic plans to support and accelerate business development at the local, national and international levels, including assisting organizations in the execution of entrepreneurial and employment development programs.

ITLA’s vision, with its slogan “Education for Entrepreneurship,” is to be an international academic reference on information technology and communications, training entrepreneurs with innovative education systems and contributing to national development.

Both institutions seek to strengthen the concept of entrepreneurship among young Dominicans through programs focused on business and entrepreneurial education, employment and technical skills, and facilitating access to technological and financial resources for community-led programs. They seek to train professionals in technology and applied science through innovative methodologies, community involvement, ethical values and global awareness, thus contributing to national development.
