Young Salvadorians go from Idea to Action in One Day through an IDB/YABT sponsored Mini Biz Lab
El Salvador, November 15th, 2016 - The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), carried out the Mini Business Lab “From the idea to action in one day”, on November 3rd and 4th in San Salvador, El Salvador. The Mini Business Lab was an interactive session where Salvadoran entrepreneurs in the early stages received practical tools to generate innovative ideas to transform into profitable and scalable businesses.
The Workshop aims to generate entrepreneurial skills in the local youth through practical training, allowing them to start their own business and create opportunities for decent jobs to other young people from their community. During the workshop, cases of successes from the region and young Salvadoran entrepreneurs were presented, which served as inspiration for the rest of the participants.
“…through my University I applied to be part of the scholarship, and I am happy to have participated in the Workshop. I learned how enhance my entrepreneurship skills and gather the necessary information to move forward with it”, said Dania González, student of the Francisco Gavidia University.
Edgar Maestre, Program Director for Latin America and José Clautier, Program Officer from the YABT , headed the activity through plenary sessions, working groups, cases studies, practical exercises and graphic material; motivating the participation during the interactive sessions.
More than 40 young Salvadoran participated in the workshop, which, in addition to the experience of being part of the program, will receive complementary virtual trainings and mentoring sessions among other benefits as part of the follow-up of the workshop program.
“My experience at the workshop was full new experiences that will be of huge help for the creation of innovative ideas. It let me a great contribution in the business field, and helped me to resolve various doubts that I had”, Joshua Nieto, said at the conclusion of the activity.
The Workshop ended with a "Pitch Competition", where the teams presented their business proposals to a selected jury, which included Mr. Solomon Vilensky and Marcelo Firstman, experts from MASHAV Carmel center of training at Haifa, Israel.
