Successful Conclusion of NexLinks Mission in Washington DC
Washington DC, October 18th, 2016 - From October 3 - 7, the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) along with the Organization of American States (OAS) and in cooperation with BanReservas held the third International NexLinks Mission"Connections and Exchange of Experiences on Entrepreneurship". The attendees were representatives from the financial, educational, and private sectors as well as civil society and came from Mexico, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Honduras, and El Salvador.
The mission lasted five days, during which delegates had the opportunity to participate in personalized sessions that allowed them to know in detail the work that organizations such as the OAS, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, among others, made in the area of entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic development. These activities were designed to identify synergies and strengthen the work of each delegate, their organizations, and companies.
The agenda allowed delegates to meet with leading institutions of the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Washington D.C. They were able, to access to best practices and gainknowledge of the venture development happening in the Capital of the United States of America. Among the activities, some highlights we the visits to WeWork, a world leader in coworking spaces; 1776, a global leader in business incubation, and Bizlac an international business accelerator focused on entrepreneurs coming from Latin America and the Caribbean.
Another standing out component of the NexLinks Mission was the panel: "The Revolution of Entrepreneurship in Africa and Latin America", developed in the framework of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The panel was led by YABT, where two of our Mission delegates had the opportunity to speak and share their experiences to an audience with representatives from all around the world.
In the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the delegates participated in "DemandSolutions",an annual event that brings the most creative minds in the world to discuss and share innovative solutions addressing development issues in Latin America and the Caribbean. The NexLinks Mission delegation was inspired by world class entrepreneurs and strengthen their worldwide networks.
Delegates attended not only high-level events, but also had consistent opportunities for international visibility. A key opportunity during the Mission was the media exposure at "Voice of America" (VOA), an international multimedia broadcasting service in more than 40 languages; that reaches between Internet, radio and television an estimated global audience of 187.7 million people.
The NexLinks Mission culminated in a meeting with the Deputy Secretary General of the OAS, S.E. NéstorMéndez and authorities from the participating governments. Delegates were able to express what they learned during the program and highlight the role of the work of the OAS and YABT supporting entrepreneurship and young people in Latin America and the Caribbean.
