Guatemala will be the host of the next InnovAction Business Lab

Washington, D.C., September 22, 2016. The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare of the Republic of Guatemala, will work together for the development of an InnovAction Business Lab focused on Innovation, joining forces to promote entrepreneurship as an engine for job creation and youth empowerment. The association between the two entities will generate capabilities to improve business competitiveness through the management of environments and innovation processes.

The program, that has a "training of trainers" methodology, will be held in Guatemala’s capital from November 14th to November 18th, as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016. The workshop will be conducted by two specialists from the Golda Meir International Training Center, as part of technical cooperation between YABT and the Government of Israel, with the support of the Organization of American States (OAS).

The open call is aimed at people from public, private and academic entities that are linked to programs and initiatives that support entrepreneurship, innovation and job creation. In addition, it is required to have a commitment to replicate the acquired knowledge with other organizations and community of entrepreneurs in the region. Activities of the program include plenary sessions, working groups, case studies, and formulation of proposals for innovation management to be presented to a panel of experts.

"The launch of a business contributes to the economy through the creation of jobs, especially in youth" said the report titled "Young Entrepreneurs as Drivers of Sustainable Growth" published by YABT and the World Bank.

The InnovAction Business Lab is focused on "practical training" through business workshops where participants acquire skills that contribute to fostering innovation. The workshop’s audience is entrepreneurs, mentors from incubators, innovation centers, universities, technology and industrial parks, productive sector, among other stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.
