The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Sub-regional Office for Barbados and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), invite you to the upcoming Finals, Expo and Award Ceremony of the Caribbean Innovation Challenge (CIC) that will take place on April 25-26, 2013 at the Hilton Resort in Barbados.
During the Finals, 20 teams, selected among 493 participants, will have the unique opportunity to showcase and present their projects to international and regional business experts during the final stage of judging. These Finalists will also be able to meet potential partners and investors who may be interested in offering additional supporting to develop their businesses.
The event will feature a number of events open to the public, including a 2-day International Expo, as well as Opening and Closing & Awards Ceremonies. The Expo will be held on both April 25 and 26 from 9:00 to 17:00. It will feature booths set up by the 20 Finalists that will display their projects, prototypes, ideas and promotional materials. The Opening Ceremony will take place Thursday, April 25 from 8:00 to 9:00 and will feature addresses by local government and stakeholders. The event will close with an Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 26 from 15:00 to 17:30 where Winners will be awarded in the competing categories.
The CIC is an international entrepreneur competition and business start-up accelerator for young people in the CARICOM Member States. Awarding projects in three categories (Social, Economic and Environmental), the CIC promotes innovation, social enterprise and the development of entrepreneurial initiatives in diverse and new sustainability sectors. The CIC is a component of the UNDP project Youth Innovation (Youth-IN): A Caribbean Network for Youth Development.
