This September 2013, Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), PepsiCo and the Organization of American States will open registrations for the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas) and Eco-Challenge 2014. We invite youth from Latin America and the Caribbean that have an innovative business idea or start-up to register and take the challenge!
The participating teams will have 5 months to virtually submit a business proposal, prototype, promotional video and to develop or improve the project's online presence. These components will then be reviewed by our international committee of judges, choosing the top teams, who will participate in the on-site competition in Paraguay in June 2014, simultaneously having access to training, entrepreneurship round tables, international experts and networking.
María Belen Fernandez from pptVivo!, one of the winners of the TIC Americas 2013 edition in Guatemala and finalist of the 2012 edition in Colombia told YABT in an interview: "TIC Americas gives you the opportunity to develop a business plan, be evaluated by expert judges, receive feedback about your project, validate it in the market and expand your network. It is an excellent opportunity to validate an idea, get to know other entrepreneurs and exchange experiences, while also meeting high-level persons whose experience and knowledge can help you learn about the life of an entrepreneur. It is an interesting challenge and an opportunity not to be missed."
The 2014 edition will allow young entrepreneurs to develop and present their innovative projects at an international level. They will benefit from the online training resources provided by YABT and PepsiCo to improve their business plans, prototypes and promotional content and later have the chance to compete in one of the award categories, yet to be announced. Participants, finalists, or winners, these young people will have the opportunity to take advantage of the before, during and after stages of the competition, as well as an extensive YABT network of entrepreneurs and professionals.
This year we welcome the Central American Bottling Corporation (CBC) as the sponsor of a special sub-category of the Eco-Challenge 2014 awards. The organizers thank everyone who is making TIC Americas and Eco-Challenge 2014 possible and we look forward to working together for the development of youth entrepreneurship in the region.
In its 2013 edition, TIC Americas has grown to include over 3,300 young entrepreneurs from 27 countries and has further integrated participants from Latin America and the Caribbean, through the Caribbean Innovation Challenge (CIC). Over 7 years and 8 editions, more than 24,000 young entrepreneurs from 75 countries have participated in the competition.
