Through TIC Americas, young people can accelerate their businesses, participate in training and have access to a global network of contacts. Young people can register in three categories: start-up, SMEs, and the Eco-Challenge. For this edition, the Eco-Challenge aims to support young entrepreneurs environmental solutions. There are four major challenges: access to water, recycling and massive collection of PET bottles, sustainable agriculture, and a mobile application to promote eco-sustainable styles of life.
The finalists will have the opportunity to connect with mentors, investors, representatives of the private sector, international and government agencies at the highest level. These contacts promote projects and make them sustainable and successful businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2009, PepsiCo and YABT partnered to create the Eco-Challenge, a category of awards within TIC Americas, focusing on innovative projects that offer creative solutions to environmental problems. Three years ago, CBC joined PepsiCo and YABT to support Eco-Challenge category of Central America. In 2015, Postobón joined to reinforce the Eco-Challenge in Colombia. The category has grown steadily since its first edition, where 300 teams from across the region were registered to participate. Only in 2015, 1,522 teams from 34 countries took the Eco-Challenge, demonstrating the increasing participation of youth in creating innovative solutions to environmental problems.
