Washington DC, February 5, 2015 – The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) and the Executive Secretary of Integral Development (SEDI) of the Organization of American States (OAS) are pleased to announce that the registration phase for the I Edition of the Americas Cultural Entrepreneurship Award is officially over.
In this edition, 140 proposals for creative and cultural industries from young citizens of each of the 23 Member States of the OAS were submitted. The best projects in this new category will compete in the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas) finals that will take place in Panama, in April 2015, within the framework of the IV Youth Forum of the Americas —an official activity of the VII Summit of the Americas.
The Americas Cultural Entrepreneurship Award was established by the Ministers of Culture at the Sixth Inter-American Meeting held in Haiti in August 2014. The Declaration of Port-au-Prince on “Cultural Interdependence in the Context of Globalization” recognizes the importance of culture and innovation as a driver for social and economic development.
