Washington, DC, March 22nd, 2019 - The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT / OAS) is pleased to announce TIC Colombia, of the XIV edition of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas) national category, and which the final will take place next June, in Medellin, Colombia, as part of the 49th General Assembly activity of the Organization of American States (OAS).
TIC Colombia seeks to support young Colombian leaders and entrepreneurs between 18 and 34 years old, who develop proposals with potential to be scaled up and replicable. The competition places emphasis on the creative industries and the human development of the youth population, by contributing with sustainable economic development and promoting equality, inclusion, and building peace for the prosperity of the South American country.
The YABT launches TIC Colombia in partnership with the OAS and its Mission in Support of the Colombia Peace Process (MAPP-OAS), the First Lady Bureau of the Colombian Republic, the National Youth Direction System (Colombia Joven), iNNpulsa Colombia and WeWork. The YABT calls other public entities, private sector, and international cooperation agencies in the country, to join this committed group in supporting Colombian youth.
The registration is available until May 15th, 2019, through the website: www.ticamericas.net/tic-colombia . The proposals from the young entrepreneurs must be framed in one of the following priority areas:
• Creative Industries: Through the production of goods and / or services based on creativity, with potential for growth and investment.
• Agriculture and Nutrition: Development of productive models that promote sustainable production, capitalizing on the agricultural sector with new technologies.
• Entrepreneurship and Peace: Focused on ventures developed in areas with vulnerable populations, migrants, and victims of violence.
• Sport and Peace: The use of sports as a tool for social cohesion and productive and social transformation of communities.
TIC Americas is a hemispheric competition that supports and accelerates business and social innovative solutions promoted by young people that contribute with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to TIC Colombia, TIC Americas includes the following categories: Startup Challenge, the Caribbean Innovation Competition, and the Eco-Challenge; the latter developed since 2009, in partnership with PepsiCo Latin American Beverages.
The YABT is an international non-profit organization that works in cooperation with the OAS. YABT supports the Summit of the Americas mandates and the OAS Member States goals, promoting youth development programs and initiatives that promote the creation of companies as a source of job creation, and that ensures that young people improve their life´s condition.
