Washington, D.C., October 17, 2019. The UNESCO Regional Partners Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean marked a very enriching experience for participants from different international and non-governmental organizations, the public and private sector.
The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) was invited by UNESCO to be part of this high-level Forum, held in Panama City, Panama, on October 3 and 4. The YABT was represented by Mr. Edgar Maestre, Program Director for Latin America, with the participation of representatives of the Organization of American States (OAS) through its Executive Secretariat for Integral Development and the National Office for Panama
During the days of the Forum, the YABT held meetings and institutional approaches with international organizations, UNESCO officials and other agencies of the United Nations System as well as with entrepreneurs from the creative industries that showed their products in the Forum exhibition. All of the above allowed us to identify opportunities for collaboration, exchange experiences and good practices, as well as expand the positive impact that YABT programs have in the region.
"I highlight the UNESCO initiative to create these spaces that foster international and intersectoral cooperation, to coordinate and move forward together in a strategic and shared vision among different key actors in the region ...", said Edgar Maestre after the Forum.
With an environment of plurality, understanding and communication, the results of the Forum have a high impact potential for the region, whose daily program facilitated open dialogue and embrace the ideas of all the sectors involved, directing and realizing synergies for the development of the subcontinent.
“Alliances are key in the work we develop from YABT to generate a positive impact on communities, empowering young people as agents of change and partners to promote a prosperous region, with equity and economic and social opportunities for society in general. The Strategic Alliances are part of our Priority Areas, creating deep and natural relationships to invest in programs and projects that support the human capital and capacity of young people to build a sustainable future for the Americas and the rest of the world,” added Maestre from Panama.
