From Colombia - Enviromental Impact
Two years ago, Mr. Sebastian Bustamante, Mr. Frank Olaya and Mr. Juan Camilo Arbelaez had a business idea which considered two main phenomena: global warming and the growing influence of social networks.
Their strong desire to becoming entrepreneurs in the business world led them to launch their company called, Verdeate, in September, 2010. The business focuses on reducing CO2 emissions in the private and public sectors and within civil society. With the business more consolidated, they also participated in the Eco-Challenge 2011, that took place in San Salvador, El Salvador. They competed and won a prize of US$ 5,000 dollars as seed capital funding.
Verdeate has since then experienced constant growth, and currently has consolidated itself in a larger commercial market, having active participation in more national and international projects. Today, the business has over 80,000 Facebook fans, 45,000 followers on Twitter, 35 partnerships with different organizations, market presence in 6 different countries, and implemented environmental campaigns in the private and government sectors. Many of these clients use Verdeate as a platform to join and support the green movement.
Movilidad Sostenible was the campaign created by Verdeate for Medellin's subway system, which included Retos CO2 and Charlas Verdes to sensitize society on reducing CO2 gas emission through more frequent use of public transportation in Medellin.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Verdeate, Mr. Sebastian Bustamante, shared some of the challenges faced by his company: "We want to be positioned in a segment of 40 - 50 years: business entrepreneurs are those who have the power to make decisions and implement sustainability solutions," said Sebastian.
