Ideas for Action on the "Road to Lima"

Philadelphia, United States, October 2, 2015 – Ideas for Action is hosting a special program during the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Lima, Peru, to promote the importance of involving youth in designing and implementing the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals. The agenda will create unique opportunities both for development and industry leaders to gain first-hand insights into fostering youth engagement and for young people from around the world to share innovative ideas with important decision makers in order to help shape the global development agenda.

During its “Road to Lima” program, Ideas for Action will host two events in Lima. As part of the official Annual Meeting, the first event will serve to share insights into promoting youth engagement with World Bank officials, government representatives, and industry thought leaders from around the world. The event seeks to highlight the importance of the ideas, inspiration, and leadership of those who will soon assume global and local responsibility for sustainable development and shared prosperity.

Subsequently, Ideas for Action, in partnership with San Ignacio de Loyola University (USIL), will host an in-house and online Global Young Leaders Dialogue on financing the post-2015 development agenda. The global dialogue will feature the impact of the Ideas for Action initiative and the critical role of partnerships between government, private sector, international organizations, academia, and young entrepreneurs. It will allow individuals from around the world to directly engage in the conversation and to help shape the next steps of Ideas for Action and its partnering youth initiatives from around the world.

Speakers include Mahmoud Mohieldin, Corporate Secretary and President’s Special Envoy, World Bank Group; Djordjija Petkoski, Lecturer and Senior Fellow at the Wharton School; Luis Viguria, CEO, YABT/OAS; and representatives from USIL and PepsiCo. In addition, representatives from the six finalists of the Ideas for Action Competition 2015 will discuss their proposals and involvement with I4A.

Ideas for Action invites all its stakeholders to join the conversations on October 7th, either in person or online. A global social media dialogue before, during, and after the event will allow the audience to contribute innovative ideas and to directly engage with thought leaders from around the world. Both events will be broadcasted on the Ideas for Action website and made available for viewing online after the events.

About Ideas for Action:
