Bogota, Colombia, March 10, 2015 - The Environmental Botanical Club, ”Colombia Soy Yo” and the Student Network for Higher Education with support from the Young Americas Business Trust will hold on March 13 the National Youth Dialogue in Bogota, Colombia. This dialogue is part of the preparatory process of the IV Young Americas Forum, an official activity within the framework of the VII Summit of the Americas taking place in Panama in April.
Colombian youth who will attend the Dialogue will focus the discussion on the Summit’s theme "Prosperity with Equity: The challenge of cooperation in the Americas" which involves a total of eight topics: education, security, migration, health, environment, civil society, civic participation, and democratic governance.
Different cities in Colombia have already conducted local dialogues; these include Cartagena, Medellin, Manizales, and soon Barranquilla, Santa Marta, among other regions. We appreciate the hemispheric support from the World Bank and the support of the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá and the Superior School of Public Administration.
The results of the dialogue will be considered as inputs for the preparation of the Draft Declaration of the Forum and other regional reports. This process will raise the voice of young people in the continent during the main meetings between the heads of state of the Americas.
The Young Americas Forum is a program that has been developed for over a decade by the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), where youth in their capacity as social actors actively participate in the processes of the Summits of the Americas. For more information visit: YABT Forum
