Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, June 13, 2016âŽ¯Within the framework of the 46th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), the awards ceremony of the XI Edition of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas) and Eco-Challenge 7.0 was held.
TIC Americas is an international entrepreneurship and business accelerator platform for young entrepreneurs and start-ups led by the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT). YABT is an international nonprofit organization, founded in 1999, with a private sector initiative that promotes the social and economic development of young people around the world. YABT works in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) promoting opportunities for young people and facilitating spaces and tools for the eradication of poverty and the improvement of the living conditions of young people in the Western Hemisphere.
35 teams selected from 39 Latin American and Caribbean countries from a total of 2,795 teams participated in the TIC Americas finals, the implementation component of the IV Young Americas Forum.
Start-Up: Focused on young people with innovative proposals that are still in the development stage.
SMEs: Focused on young people with businesses that are already established or that have started formal operations.
Eco Challenge: Focused on young people that present innovative environmental solutions to four challenges presented by the competition (Access to water, Recycling, Sustainable Agriculture and Development of a mobile application to promote eco-friendly habits)
TIC Dominican Republic: The national category of the competition oriented to facilitate an international platform to strengthen existing programs that support the national entrepreneur ecosystem.
Caribbean Innovation Competition: This category promotes innovation, development of business initiatives in the Caribbean. The projects respond to the following categories: Creative Industries and the commercialization of technology.
