Washington D.C. March 1st, 2021. The sixteenth edition of the Talent and Innovation Competition of the Americas (TIC Americas) officially closed registrations with a total of 3,673 proposals, from 4,235 young entrepreneurs, coming from 35 different countries. The Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) thanks each and every entrepreneur that accepted the challenge, presented their proposals and ideas, and has benefited from all the resources offered during this stage of the program.
This year’s edition of TIC Americas responded to the global emergency of COVID-19 with the new InnovAction Challenge, a regional competition that looks to support and help all the most affected communities hit by the pandemic. Similarly, the Eco-Challenge 12.0 has contributed with a new vision for the circular economy of plastic that will allow the material to never become waste. TIC Jalisco, on the other hand, identified innovative entrepreneurs with growth potential in strategic and emerging sectors in Jalisco, Mexico.
YABT expresses its gratitude to all the strategic partners that made this edition of TIC Americas possible: the Organization of American States (OAS) – including their National Officials, PepsiCo Beverages Latin America, Inter-American Foundation, Summit of the Americas Secretariat and the Secretaría de Innovación, Ciencia y Tecnología del Estado de Jalisco. Also, YABT thanks all the collaborating organizations that joined during this phase and helped maximize the program’s impact on a local and regional level.
During this period, the YABT BootCamp offered a total of 46 training sessions conducted by distinguished international experts, that helped the participants elaborate their competition materials. We thank all experts, entrepreneurs, business and organization specialists for their great help with the training sessions.
The next phase of TIC Americas consists of the evaluations, in charge of a select committee of international experts, who will review the proposals and choose the finalists, while also providing feedback to all evaluated projects. The finalists will be announced on May 1st through the official YABT channels.
Finalists will receive a benefits package that includes, among other things: specialized training sessions, access to international mentors, a promotional campaign and strategic accompaniment heading towards the Finals in June 2021. Winning teams will get a prize of USD $5,000 in seed capital, and an array of follow-up business related services. Complying with all COVID-19 safety protocols, the Finals will be held virtually.
