“The Summits of the Americas Secretariat is honored to offer our support to young entrepreneurs who are trying to make our region stronger with their ideas, their leadership, and their desire to see the Americas better prepared to face challenges and bring about a more sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous Hemisphere” added Maria Celina Conte, Interim Director of the Summits of the Americas Secretariat.

“Congratulations to the thousands of young entrepreneurs who were brave enough to dream and develop their ideas as business proposals, and to YABT for their constant support. From PepsiCo, we are thrilled with these 10 finalists. The Eco Challenge is an important component of our sustainability agenda for the region, contributing with innovative ideas that will allow our packagings to never become waste,” said Gabriela De la Garza, Corporate Affairs, Citizenship & Sustainability Sr. Director at PepsiCo Latin America.

Thanks to a strategic alliance between YABT/OAS and the Government of Jalisco, through the  Secretaría de Innovación, Ciencia y Tecnología, the first edition of TIC Jalisco was made possible, a special category that looks to support the growth of innovative entrepreneurs with local and international potential, responding to the priorities of strategic sectors that promote the development of the Jalisco, Mexico region. From more than 500 proposals, the following six teams were chosen as Finalists:

Mr. Alfonso Pompa Padilla, Secretario de Innovación, Ciencia y Tecnología del Estado de Jalisco, emphasized the importance of promoting these types of programs at a regional and continental level, while also congratulating this year’s finalists.

“Today, we meet the Finalists for each of the categories of TIC Jalisco. I encourage you to meet them, recognize their talent and the talent of everyone who participated in this competition”, said Pompa Padilla.

Before the Finals event, all Finalist teams will go through a reinforcement period where they will improve their business proposals and participate in tailor-made training sessions with high level international experts, round table discussions with their peers and a visibility campaign through social media.

The Virtual Finals will take place from June 22nd through June 25th, with an abundant schedule filled with different activities, that will help the Finalists show the impact of their innovative solutions, all while connecting them with broad networks, international leaders and a vibrant entrepreneurial community.

“Today more than ever, entrepreneurship, innovation and resilience are the components our region needs. Our youth, who have been the most affected population by the pandemic, through their contributions, have given us a clear example of why they are part of the solution, not the problem. It is an honor for us to be able to contribute with the development of solutions that will allow us to double our social and economic recovery efforts post COVID-19. We thank all our partners that have made this possible, and the youth for always trusting us,” expressed Luis Viguria, CEO of YABT.

We thank all entrepreneurs that put their ideas forward during the registration period. To all entrepreneurs that completed the process and were not chosen as Finalists, we encourage you to keep developing your project and participate once again in our next edition. Each team that proposed a project and was evaluated will receive a Feedback report provided by the Semi Finals judges, as a part of the benefits of participating in TIC Americas.

To all the international experts that made up the Evaluation Committee of the Semi Finals phase, as well as all the international experts in charge of the YABT BOOTCamp training sessions, we thank you for your commitment with the development of our entrepreneurial ecosystem, and for betting on entrepreneurship as a fundamental tool of change.

Good luck to all of our Finalists!
