Medellin, Colombia, June 25, 2019 - The Finals of the XIV Edition of TIC Americas started today Tuesday, June 25 in Medellin, Colombia. There are 16 finalist teams representing 8 countries from the West Hemisphere that are participating in the Talent and Innovation of the Americas Competition (TIC Americas) during the 49 General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).
The participants are young entrepreneurs between 18 and 34 years old that have an innovative business in the social, economic and environmental sector. The finalist teams from the 8 countries were selected after a difficult selection process from 5106 business proposals from 41 countries and a total of 5332 young entrepreneurs.
The finalist teams of TIC Americas presented their business proposals to international and knowledgeable juries in the entrepreneurship field. This evaluation process will determine the winners on Wednesday June 26 and will also provide advice to the young entrepreneurs on how to start growing their businesses.
The inauguration ceremony included the welcoming words from the Medellin Mayor Fedrico Gutierrez, the OAS Assistant Secretary, the Chief Executive Officer of YABT, Luis Viguria; the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Medellin, Lina Vélez de Nicholls, The General Manager Colombia, Karen Scarpetta and the Corporate Affairs Senior Director PepsiCo Latin America Beverages/ Citizenship and Sustainability Gabriela De La Garza.
Afterwards, the authorities and guests participated in the official visit to International Expo. At this event, it was possible to appreciate the innovative projects that try to solve specific problems in our region from the XIV Edition of the Talent and Innovation of the Americas Competition (TIC Americas) and the categories: Eco-Reto, Startup Challenge, TIC Colombia y el Caribbean Innovation Competition.
Young Americas Business Trust (YABT), PepsiCo Latin America, the World Bank, la Alcaldia de Medellin sponsor the Talent and Innovation of the Americas Competition (TIC Americas) and the Eco-Reto 10.0 2019 with the collaboration of WeWork, Chancellery of Colombia, Colombia Young, Chamber of Commerce Medellin for Antioquia, Comfama, INNpulsa, OEAMAP and the Organization of American States(OAS).
The awards ceremony will be on Wednesday at 5:00 pm as part of the closing activities of the XIV Edition of TIC Americas in Centro Empresarial El Poblado Cámara de Comercio de Medellín para Antioquía
