OAS General Secretariat Opens Call for Papers in the Framework of the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

In the framework of the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (GS/OAS) is pleased to announce a Call for Papers on the importance and impact of international and regional instruments on advancing and promoting human rights.

The call for papers is open to persons between the ages of 18 and 30 who are engaged in community work advocating on behalf of people in situations of vulnerability in the Americas. Those interested should submit a paper, that should not exceed 4 pages, on one of the following topics:

  • Freedom of Expression and assembly
  • Rights of persons with disabilities
  • Rights of women and girls
  • Rights for LGBTIQ+
  • Indigenous Peoples
  • Sexual and Reproductive Health
  • Afro-Descendants
  • Rights of migrants
  • Rights of Older Persons

The Evaluation Committee will select up to 4 papers, and the winners will have the opportunity to present their work at the OAS Permanent Council virtually on Tuesday, December 5.

The deadline for submissions is November 16 at 17:00 EST (22:00 GMT)
