Alliance between YABT and the Instituto Municipal de Atención a la Juventud de San Miguel de Allende, yields great results

Washington, D.C., November 23, 2022 – Around 2,600 young high school and college students from the Municipality of San Miguel de Allende, in Guanajuato, Mexico, gathered on November 22 to attend the 1st Conference: Breaking Paradigms for a Better Future. The activity was held at the facilities of the Centro de Bachillerato Tecnológico industrial y de servicios (CBTis) No. 60. The conference was also followed by hundreds of people via live streaming.

This event was part of the Municipal Youth Month and is the result of a joint effort between the Young Americas Business Trust (YABT) and the Municipal Government of San Miguel de Allende through the Instituto Municipal de Atención a la Juventud de San Miguel de Allende (IMAJSMA).

Cecilia Vilchis and Eduardo Elias, Program Managers of YABT, were in charge of the Conference and presented the role and contribution of youth to solve local and global problems, the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation to accelerate sustainable growth, while sharing at the same time their own testimonies as young leaders and professionals in the international environment. Vilchis and Elias also presented various international tools and programs that will support young people’s initiatives, such as the Young Americas Forum, the Talent and Innovation Competencies of the Americas (TIC Americas), the YABT Internships and other opportunities available from the Organization of American States (OAS).

The event had as special guests Mr. Mauricio Trejo, Mayor of San Miguel de Allende; Mr. Genaro Sánchez Murillo, Municipal Secretary of IMAJSMA and Mexican Youth Delegate; academic authorities from CBTis 60 and Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos del Estado de Guanajuato (CECyTEG), local universities and authorities from the municipality itself.

The conference was an important milestone for hundreds of high school students, who were motivated by the content and the stories presented, which will be useful for them to have a life plan and define the next steps and projects in the academic, labor and professional field, providing them with a broader vision and now having new tools and paths to achieve their goals.

The partnership between YABT and IMAJSMA contributes significantly to the agreements and subsequent activities of the VI Young Americas Forum, an official activity of the IX Summit of the Americas, by involving more young people in a process that provides them with the channels to present their recommendations and develop innovative solutions for the prosperity and sustainable development of the region.
